Exploring Mathematics 2007

This course is aimed at students taking A-level Mathematics or an equivalent qualification. We hope to increase the students' enjoyment and understanding by illustrating the beauty and power of mathematics.
If you want to take part please apply using the application form.
The course is free of charge.

Preliminary programme
Venue: Main Lecture Theatre (in Founder's Building)

From 10.00am onwards Registration
10.15am Refreshments and welcome
10.30am Quick quiz session (Dr Jason Crampton)

11.15am Prof Fred Piper (Royal Holloway)
"Codemakers versus Codebreakers: Who wins?"

12.15pm Time for lunch, and tours of the campus

1.30pm Small group sessions on a variety of topics. A preliminary list is here:

Including a session especially aimed at teachers.

2.40pm Dr Yiftach Barnea (Royal Holloway) "Counting infinity"

3.40pm Panel discussion, followed by refreshments

If you try, on your risk, the direct route make sure you reach Ripley avenue and enter the College at the end of Lynwood avenue.
