The Doctoral Program "Discrete Mathematics" (DK) offers an advanced PhD training and research program. It is run jointly by the Austrian universities
and funded by the Austrian Science Fund (FWF) and the three supporting universities.
We offer up to 22 PhD positions for up to 4 years and a gross salary of 27.900 EUR (30 hours per week). Optional teaching is compensated separately. There is additional funding for extended stays abroad. The positions are assigned to the 11 specific research projects listed below. The official language of the program is English.

Application
The candidates must exhibit a strong track record of mathematical studies that is equivalent to a master degree which must be valid by the beginning of the contract. Graduates from excellent bachelor programs can also be admitted, subject to additional curricular requirements.
In your application please include the following:
- curriculum vitae (CV)
- a short description of your qualifications and experience (i.e. list or transcript of courses, Diploma or Master thesis)
- a letter describing your scientific interests, possibly in connection with the offered PhD project
- your preferred research topics
- your earliest possible starting date
The candidates are encouraged to have confidential reference letters by their master thesis advisor, and if possible by one or two further internationally recognized researchers, being directly sent to discrete@TUGraz.at.
With a view towards increasing the number of female mathematicians, female candidates are especially encouraged to apply.
Where and how to send the application
Applications should to be sent by email to:
Application shoud consist of a single pdf-file. Please merge your documents into a single pdf-file. It is possible to apply for several projects. Please specify in the e-mail and in the application to which project you're applying for.
