General Topology

Topology is a fundamental field in mathematics, and provides many basic concepts for modern analysis. There are three main directions in topology, - namely General Topology (including Set Theoretic Topology), Algebraic Topology and Differential Topology.	G.Cantor
General Topology starts with the notion of a topological space as an appropriate generalization of a metric space. Continuous maps are the natural maps between topological spaces. General Topology studies topics like covering properties, separation properties, connectedness, variations of continuity etc., to name a few.	M. Frechet
Over the years, most of the original concepts have been generalized or varied in many useful ways. New and interesting applications have been found and, of course, there are still a lot of open questions waiting to be solved. At present, General Topology is still quite an active and fascinating field within mathematics.	F. Hausdorff
