Two positions in algebra and number theory

The Algebra and Number Theory group (https://imsc.uni-graz.at/AlgNTh) at the University of Graz in Austria invites applications for two PhD positions. The positions will be embedded within the Doctoral Program Discrete Mathematics, which is jointly run by the University of Graz, the University of Technology Graz, and the University of Leoben. The positions are for up to 3 years at 30 hours/week. The minimum salary as stated in the collective agreement and according to the classification scheme is EUR 31,200 gross/year. This minimum salary may be higher due to previous employment periods eligible for inclusion and other earnings and remunerations.

The candidates must exhibit a strong track record of mathematical studies that is equivalent to a master degree which must be valid by the beginning of the contract. In particular, a strong background in algebra (preferably ring theory) is desirable.
